  • BPF to field candidates in Panchayat election

    Kokrajhar: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) which is ally of the ruling BJP-AGP government in Assam will field it own candidates in the panchayat elections.

    Talking to Reporters after the 10th Policy Making Body (PMB) of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) held today at Bathou Complex in Kokrajhar today, party president and chief of Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) Hagrama Mohilary said the party will filed candidates in Panchayat election.in areas where the party has huge support.

    Mohilary said the meeting of the PMB discussed the issues related to coming panchayat election, and other aspects of the party.

    Mohilary said that the PMB meeting also decided took a tough decision against the carbon factory located at Dhaligaon in Chirang district. He said the illegal carbon factories in Chirang and Kokrajhar will have to be closed and the party will continue its protest to closed the carbon factory which a health hazard to the locals.

    The BTC chief also said the PMB meeting discussed on delimitation of constituencies in BTC election to increase the number of BTC constituencies from the present 40 to 60.

    He said the next PMB meeting of the party will be held on 3 November.

    Replying to a query, Mohilary, said the BPF would field its own candidates in the 2019 parliamentary election where the party has huge supporter outside the BTAD and there was no confusion in the alliance with BPF and BJP and their alliance was moving in the right track.
