  • CBI waiting for documents from CAG, IT to probe CWG projects

    Published on October 30, 2010

CBI will begin a full-fledged probe into the corruption charges in projects related to the Commonwealth Games after the CAG, CVC and IT department share documents or submit a report on their investigations.

“The Comptroller and Auditor General, Central Vigilance Commission, Income Tax are all doing their own investigations. Let them investigate. Right now they are doing the investigations and all documents are with them,” CBI Director Ashwini Kumar said.

“Once they (other agencies) give us the documents or give their report to us, then we will get in,” he said.

The Income Tax Department has seized large number of documents during its two rounds of raids conducted this month at the premises of various contractors and firms connected with the Games.

The department, which has in its custody a large number of documents including those relating to the contracts awarded by the Games Organising Committee, would share them with various government agencies to streamline the probe.

These documents could form the basis of any further cases that could be registered by the ED or even the CBI.
