  • Centre working for farmers’ welfare, says PM

    New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the CentralGovernment is working for the welfare of the farmers.

    He was addressing a rally in Rudrapur in Udhamsingh Nagar districtof Uttarakhand on Thursday.

    As the Prime Minister’s helicopter could not take off for therally in Rudrapur due to bad weather, he addressed the public meeting throughthe mobile phone from Dhikala Zone of Jim Corbet National Park. Prime Ministersaid that his Government has provided for several new schemes in the interimBudget for the welfare of farmers.

    Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived at Jolly Grant airport inDehradun in the morning and left for Jim Corbet National Park after waiting for3 hours due to bad weather.

    Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat launched the two schemes ofCo-operative Department at Rudrapur in the absence of the Prime Minister.

    These include Integrated Co-operative Development Scheme at acost of 3,340 crore rupees and Deendayal Upadhyay Kisan Kalyan Yojana toprovide interest-free loans to 7 lakh 50 thousand farmer families of theState.

    Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh and Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawar Chand Gahlot were also present on the occasion.
