Guwahati : Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has rebuked the Supreme Court Registry and expressed disappointment at its functioning.The CJI said, “There is something fundamentally wrong. Despite a lot of efforts, I have not been successful (in getting cases listed).” when a matter was mentioned before him for listing. Ranjan Gogoi mentioned that as a comparison to the high court the Supreme Court has far less number of cases, yet the listing is taking more time in the former.He added that nearly 6,000 cases are filed every day in High Court which gets listed next day. Where, in the SC, only 1,000 cases are filed and it is not listed. The CJI revealed, “We direct that matter should not be deleted from the list and still it gets deleted.” He had taken exception to the fact that the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited v. Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association case was listed too soon. Therefore, he refused to hear the case and the Bench passed an order seeking an explanation from the Registry. It is to be mentioned that earlier this month, Ranjan Gogoi rebuked the Supreme Court Registry officials in open court after a mentioning by a lawyer who claimed that her matter was deleted from the list.
