  • Commerce and Industry Minister leads high level delegation to Singapore

    The Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma will be leading a high level delegation to Singapore to inaugurate tomorrow India show which will showcase innovation and expertise of Indian industry and several sectors. Apart from exhibitions in this connection, one-to-one business meetings, symposium on India’s ideas for the world along with cultural evenings have been organised during the three-day event. The CEO delegation to Singapore will be exploring the possibilities to strengthen bilateral trade between India and Singapore and ASEAN, specially in the areas of manufacturing services and infrastructure sector. Tata Nano will be showcased for the first time in Singapore.

    AIR correspondent says that bilateral trade between Singapore and India has been growing at the rate of around 20 per cent annually and it was to the tune of 13.79 billion US dollars in the first 11 months of 2010. The total FDI from Singapore amounts to 11.47 US billion dollars. The investment was mainly in the services sector, telecommunication, petroleum and natural gas, computer software and hardware and construction activities.
