    Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday praised the frontline journalists who are covering COVID-19 and said that the state will provide them an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh. Sonowal said, ‘Frontline journalists bravely covered COVID-19 against all threats.

    With his life at stake, he worked. He is our real hero. Our government will give life insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh to each of them. ” Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that journalists are reporting on the outbreak regardless of their lives and creating awareness among the people.

    The Journalists Association of Assam (JAA) and the National Union of Journalists India (NUJI) welcomed the state government’s decision to provide insurance coverage to journalists working in high-risk environments amid the outbreak.In a statement, Bhupen Goswami, National Vice President of National Union of Journalists India, JAAA President Dhirendra Nath Chakraborty and General Secretary Dalim Phukan expressed gratitude for Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for taking timely steps, which posed a health threat. is.
