Former top CWG Organising Comm officials Lalit Bhanot and V K Verma were sent to Tihar Jail under 14-day judicial custody by a Delhi court for striking an “irregular” Rs 107 crore deal with a Swiss firm to provide various logistic supports for the Games.

Special Judge Talwant Singh remanded the duo in judicial custody on the CBI plea that the investigation into the case was still going on.

“Accused are sent to judicial custody till March 15,” said the judge, sending them to Tihar Jail on Tuesday.

The court also allowed both the accused to carry spectacles and medicines prescribed to them.

Bhanot, former Secretary-General of the OC, and Verma, ex-Director General of the OC, were arrested on 23rd February by the CBI and were remanded in the CBI custody for five days on 24th February for interrogation of their role in the scam.

Bhanot and Verma were among the functionary and key personnel in the OC and were deeply involved and instrumental in allotment of contract for Timing, Scoring and Result (TSR) System to Swiss Timing in a pre-planned and pre-mediated manner at an exorbitant rate, the CBI had told the court after their arrest.
