The Delhi High Court today granted bail to former CWG Organising Committee official T S Darbari in the Queen’s Baton Relay scam case. The bail plea of M Jayachandran will be taken up later.

Darbari was granted bail after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that it was not in a position to file a chargesheet immediately in the case.

The CBI had earlier told the court that Darbari’s custody was needed to complete the investigations and file chargesheet. A chargesheet in a criminal case has to be filed within 60 days of the arrest of the accused or the accused is entitled to bail.

Darbari and Mohindroo were expelled from the Organising Committee on charges of financial irregularities in awarding a contract to AM Films for putting up video screens.
