Guwahati : The cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) are increasing day by day in Assam and the state government and the health department have failed to prevent the disease although it had taken measures to curb the menace. According to the data of the health department, 185 people have died due to JE while 539 people have been affected by the disease. On the other hand, 222 people have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) against 1569 people who are suffering from the disease. A total of 323 people have lost their lives from JE and AES. Total Number of Affected Persons district wise due in JE as on July 19: Baksa- 6 Barpeta- 12 Bonagaigaon- 8 Cachar- 11 Chirang- 6 Darrang- 20 Dhemaji- 20 Dhubri- 12 Dibrugarh- 26 Dima Hasao- 1 Goalpara- 17 Golaghat- 14 Hailakandi- 4 Jorhat- 27 Kamrup (M)- 16 Kamrup- 27 Karbi Anglong- 13 Karimganj- 4 Kokrajhar- 2 Lakhimpur- 37 Morigaon- 11 Nagaon- 19 Nalbari- 17 Sivasagar- 33 Sonitpur- 27 Tinsukia- 23 Udalguri- 13 Moreover, the number of deaths in Baksa was 5, Bongaigaon (1), Cachar (4), Darrang (7), Dhemaji (1), Dibrugarh (9), Dima Hasao (1), Goalpara (7), Golaghat (2), Hailakandi (3), Jorhat (8), Kamrup Metro (7), Kamrup (11), Karimganj (3), Lakhimpur (6), Morigaon (1), Nagaon (4), Nalbari (5), Sivasagar (2), Sonitpur (1), Tinsukia (8) and Udalguri (1).
