  • Delhi Govt slaps showcause notice on DCW

    Published on May 15, 2015

kumvisIt is an all-out war between the Delhi Government and Delhi Commission for Women as Arvind Kejriwal Government on Friday slapped a showcause notice on Delhi Commission for Women chief Barkha Singh.

The Government has asked Barkha Singh, a former Congress MLA who is due to retire as DCW chief in July, to file her reply to the showcause notice within three days which it said was issued following complaints against her by a member of the panel.

The showcause notice asked why she should not be removed from the post for allegedly abusing power in dealing with a complaint against ruling AAP leader Kumar Vishwas.

Meanwhile, Barkha Singh has denied the allegations.

The Delhi High Court has refused to stay a summon issued to him by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on a complaint filed by a volunteer alleging that he was not rebutting “rumours” about their illicit liaison.

In his plea, Kumar Vishwas had sought that the woman be restrained from making any public statement and questioned the authority of DCW to issue such summons.
