Haflong  : Dima Hasao a ‘paradise on earth’ termed Assam Health & Family Welfare and science & Technology Minister Sri Keshab Mahanta when briefing to a local YouTube channel on Tuesday at Haflong.

Mahanta was here on official tour to take the stock of Covid situation and to review the preparedness of the pandemic. He was accompanied by local MLA Nandita Gorlosa, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, CEM, Debolal Gorlosa, NCHAC, Executive Member in charge of Medical, Samuel Changsan, Principal Secretary to Govt of Assam, Health, Anurag Goel, IAS, Dy, Secy Health & Family Welfare, Kamaljit Talukdar, Director of Health Services, Dr. Rabindra Bhuyan, Addl Director, Health Services, Dr. Timung, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner, Paul Barua, ACS, NCHAC, Principal Secy., L Z Nampui, ACS, Superintendent of Police, Jayant Singh, IPS

Talking to the channel Minister disclosed that within June 25 Haflong Civil Hospital will have its 11 bedded ICU and 10 bedded pediatric ICU and the Hospital would be equipped with all facilities with 200 beds for the people of Dima Hasao so that no patient would be referred to outside except very serious.  He also disclosed that during the review meeting many shortcomings were noticed which he immediately instructed to High Officials to solve.

Answering the question of pressman on the preservation of forest and environment, he said people of this the place should be responsible to protect and preserve the natural wealth and the environment as because no one from outside was destroying the treasure, people should be made aware of the fact that the forest cover in Dima Hasao which recorded approx 87% should be protected and preserved by any means.

Minister was so mesmerized with the beauty of Haflong that he left Haflong late evening though he was scheduled to leave Haflong by 1 pm.
