Haflong  : The Dima Hasao DCC released its election manifesto for the upcoming 12 N C Hills Autonomous Council election in presence of President, Vice President, candidates and other INC leaders at the Rajiv Bhawan on Monday.

Releasing the manifesto of ‘Agenda and Road Map’ DCC President Nirmal Langthasa stated that the people were facing a time of immense challenges to sustainable development. Thousands of citizens continue to live in poverty and were denied a life of dignity. There were rising inequalities within communities. There were enormous disparities of opportunity, wealth and power. Unemployment, particularly youth unemployment, is a major concern. Health threats, more frequent and intense natural disasters, threaten to reverse much of the development progress made in earlier decades. Natural resource depletion and adverse impacts of environmental degradation including deforestation, land degradation, freshwater scarcity and loss of biodiversity, add to and exacerbate the list of challenges we face.
We all crave for a district free of poverty and want where all life can thrive. We all aspire
where every community enjoys sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, social
development, environmental protection and the eradication of poverty.
Our vision is one of inclusive and sustainable growth fuelled by agricultural development. We
envision a district where the government serves the people rather than where people serve the government. We believe in a simple universal truth: equity and opportunity for all.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) instead of mitigating our woes is adding more threats such as the proposed scrapping of Article 244 (A) from the Constitution of India by the state BIP government, Sixth Schedule Amendment Bill 2015, Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 and the notion of extending Panchayati Raj System to Sixth Schedule areas and the silence of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on important political issues.
To us Development has a new meaning i.e. “A Harmonious Economy”, a pluralistic society
with equitable access to participation in socio-economic and political upliftment without any bias or prejudice.

Keeping in view of the above issues the Indian National Congress will contest the 12th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Election slated to be held on 19th January 2019.
The Indian National Congress is fully committed to implement the manifesto if the party is voted to power.
