GUWAHATI :Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat & celebrates Unity in Diversity with its ebullience, Élan and Vivacity of fashion and textiles sector, experts emphasised in a Webinar organised by Press Information Bureau, Guwahati on the topic here today. A Galaxy of experts from textile, fashion Industry and socio-economic cultural fraternity, Government sector along with academicians deliberated and discussed about the topic from varied perspective.

Talking about teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Assam and Rajasthan, the two states which are grouped together in ;Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, Ms. Alakananda Roy, dance educationist and danseuse, Kolkata said that the exuberance and the elan in Folk dances of Assam include the Bihu and the Bagurumba, the Satriya, the Bhortal and the Ojapali dance has its vivacity and demonstrates the culture of the place. Ms Anita Dutta Gupta said that the Muga Silk in Assam is utilised in products such as Sarees, Mekhalas and other Assamese dresses. She said that the accessories in the textile market including that of bridal textiles are having immense effect from the local culture and information savvy young population. Ms Swagata Paul said that the Gamosa to felicitate, the Assamese Japi and Xorai, a metal object are of great respect in Assam. She said this teaches all to appreciate others culture and to respect others. She said that Rajasthan is the land of Kings with its huge culture and traditions teaches the importance of Indian way of life and;Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. Dr. Lopamudra Datta, Principal, Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology said that just as Assam, Rajasthan is a state with the unity of colourful festivals and folk songs and dances and to add to flavour of its culture are Bandhini textile, colourful Leheriya, Kota Doria, Sanganeri in Jaipur Rajasthan and Jaipuri Quilts, among others. She said that the culture is exemplified in educational institutes where students coming from various places of India study and experience 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. T

alking about teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shri JP Shaw, HoD, Travel and Toursim, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata and former Regional Director, Ministry of Tourism said that the celebration in Assam including that of Rongali, Kongali and Bhogali Bihu, Baisagu and Bohuwa dance demonstrates the culture of people. He said that students are the ambassadors of;Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. Shri Mayukh Gangopadhyay, Professional Sarod player, Kolkata said that besides textiles,the Kalbeliya dance, Ghoomar dance and Kathputali demonstrates the vivacity and exuberance of Rajasthan. Shri Debasis Dhara, professional performer, Purbo Bardhamaan said that dance, drama and music performances and textile of a place affects the culture and vice-versa.

He further said that while the Dilwara temple, Kumbhshyama temple of Chittor, Somesvara temple in Kiradu, the forts of Rajasthan such as Amer Fort at Jaipur, the Chittor Fort at Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer Fort, Junagarh Fort at Bikaner, Nahargarh Fort at Jaipur are places of tourism, the Palaces of Rajasthan such as Dholpur Palace and the Hawa Mahal in pink sandstone add to the glamour of the place. Shri Sunil Kalai, HoD, Department of Journalism and Communication, Tripura University (A Central University), Suryamaninagar, Tripura said that while Camels in Thar Desert add to the biodiversity of Rajasthan, there are Rhinos in Kaziranga, Assam. He said that the environment affects the culture too. He said that textile industry is a vital industry for employment of youth in a region and it has an effect on socio-economic development of a place. Enunciating about Constitution of India, Adbur Rahman Mallick, Advocate, Delhi High Court said that just as Food Festivals, programmes such as National Integration Day, Run for Unity, Losar Festival, Deepotsav Festival and Tawang Festival, are examples which exemplify the cultural ethos and essence of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. 

The webinar was managed and coordinated by Shri Samrat Bandyopadhyay, Joint Director, PIB Guwahati. While Shri Pallav Chakravorty, Deputy Director, PIB welcomed the experts, along with students, eminent journalists and other government senior officials from Doordarshan Guwahati, Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati, All India Radio Guwahati were also present on the occasion.
