Drug smuggling : Contraband worth Rs 1.87 crore seized in Manipur

Guwahati : The Tengnoupal Battalion Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended a drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar worth Rs 1,87,20,000 at Khudengthabi check post in Manipur on Tuesday.Based on specific input received from reliable source, a joint team of troops of Khudengthabi Post of Assam Riffle and Civil Defence Organization team, while carrying out a checking of vehicle seized orange coloured powder suspected to be Brown Sugar (70 packets) hidden inside the body of the vehicle and apprehended an individual in relation to the case.The accused has been identified as Haopu Haokip who has been handed over to Moreh Police Station along with the contraband items.The individuals along with the contraband were handed over to Moreh Police Station.
