In Uttar Pradesh, at least 30 were killed in cyclonic storm that hit several districts of eastern UP yesterday. Eight people killed in Siddhartha Nagar, Seven in Jaunpur, five each in Varanasi and Bhadohi and two people died in Ambekar Nagar districts. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports that high velocity wind and scattered rain is still continuing in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Basti divisions of the state.
In Bihar, 26 people lost their lives in dust and thunder storms. AIR correspondent reports that deaths have been reported from Sheikhpura, Jamui, Saharsa, Madhepura and Araria districts.
Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, however, continued to reel under heat wave.
