Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has decided to bring down petrol prices by one rupee twenty two paise in the state by forgoing additional revenue to the state from the recent hike in petrol price. In his first press conference after taking over as Chief Minister, Mr Chandy said the cabinet meeting held yesterday has also decided to accept recommendations of National Human Rights Commission for endosulphan victims of Kasargod district in the state. An immediate financial assistance of one lakh each will be given to those who perished due to the pesticide till 2008. Mr Chandy also said that a new cell or department will be created to monitor proper implementation of central schemes.
