External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar is meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Thursday evening on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SCO meet in Russia.

Briefing the media on Thursday evening virtually, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said Dr Jaishankar will be discussing the issue of ongoing standoff in eastern Ladakh with his Chinese counterpart.

Mr Srivastava reiterated that India is committed to resolving the current situation on the India China border through peaceful negotiations.

He said both India and China are constantly communicating through diplomatic and military channels to resolve the situation.
Mr Srivastava added that this was also the consensus when Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met his Chinese counterpart in Moscow recently.
