  • Earthquake tremors felt in Delhi-NCR

    Tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR and North India region this evening after an earthquake hit parts of Pakistan.

    The epicentre of the quake was India Pakistan (Jammu and Kashmir) border region.

    Pakistan Meteorological Department’s earthquake centre said the quake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale.

    Its depth was at 10 kilometres. The earthquake jolted several cities in the northern parts of Pakistan – including Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore.

    Pakistan’s Dunya TV reported that 50 people, including women and children, were shifted to a hospital in Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after a building collapsed following the earthquake.

    Talking to AIR News, Director, Operations, National Centre for Seismology, JL Gautam said, the tremors were widely felt in Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Jammu and  Kashmir. He said, no reports of damage have been received so far.
