Mangaldai  : The much echoed  “Swacch Bharat”  slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allegedly been turned into a farce here at the hands of the  district administration itself and the campus of the Mangaldai college which has been used by the Darrang district administration as the ‘strong room ‘is a clear example . The environment of college campus  which  has reportedly been under the control of the civil administration literally from mid of March for Loksabha election purpose has allegedly been badly effected by the foul smell resulted from the semi decomposed dumps of  both bio degradable and non biodegradable substances and the used temporary latrines  that have been left behind un-disposed  after the polling process . Dr Khagendra Kr Nath , the Principal of the premier higher education of the district himself has alleged before media that an unhygienic state of environment has been prevailing in the college campus and  the students who are appearing in the ongoing exams of second and the sixth semester since May 7 last  have to experience the foul smell of the semi decomposed goods even from the exam halls . “ On the day of poll around seven to eight thousand  people had taken their meals  and the all the residues that have been dumped remained in the campus even after more than three weeks . Similarly  temporary used latrines  have also been polluting the whole atmosphere . The foul smell has engulfed the class rooms where at present students have been appearing in semester exams.” , disclosed Principal Dr Nath .

The play ground which was used for vehicles on the day of election  has  also become bumpy and not fit for use due to the broken bricks and sand gravel that were thrown on the field  for traffic movement . The Principal Dr Nath has also alleged  lack of necessary cooperation from the district administration side in bringing a quick solution to the problems . “ The administration is well aware of the situation . But I can’t say that  I have been getting necessary cooperation from them . I again request them to urgently look into matter .”, he reiterated.  Urging the administration for making alternative arrangements conduct the elections ,Principal Dr Nath further stated that  the college has been used for elections almost in two years intervals and thus the students have to suffer academically from minimum of thirty days to maximum of seventy two days .

Meanwhile  in this regard Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Dass was contacted by this reporter  over ‘Whatsapp’ to know his reaction on Sunday morning . However till filing of this report in the evening his reaction in this regard couldn’t be received .
