MANGALDAI: AMC , Alumni Association and Academic Forum , Guwahati in collaboration with Darrang Cancer Centre, Dr Anjana Phukan Memorial Foundation , Guwahati and Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang has conducted a free health check up and screening of breast and cervical cancer camp here at the Darrang Cancer Centre on May 7. The camp aimed at providing free specialized medical attention to the cancer and non cancer patients of the region belonging to the economically weaker section of the society. Dr Sangit Dutta, HoD , Medicine department, GMCH and an eminent gastroenterologist of the state , Dr Jina Bhattacharya, HoD , Hematology department, GMCH along with specialists in Medicine , Gynecology, Pediatrics , Eye etc from Guwahati and Mangaldai namely Dr Jita Khaund, Dr Deepsikha Kakoti, Dr Anjana Duara, Dr Polumi Choudhury, Dr Upasana Goswami , Dr Lutfur Rahman and others have treated more than two hundred registered patients. Cataract , presbyopic detection, blood sugar and hemoglobin test and distribution of free medicines were also featured in the camp. The camp was inaugurated bY Darrang Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey in presence of Joint Director of Health Services , Darrang, Dr Nirmal Kumar Beria, Superintendent of Darrang Cancer Centre, Dr Syed Iftikar Sobhani and others. An awareness meeting on tobacco control and the adverse effects of tobacco use also followed the camp
