In Assam,flood situation continue to worsen as water level of several rivers continue to rise, over 2 lakh people affected in the state;Torrential rains lead to flood-like situation at several places in Gujarat. In Assam, new areas have been inundated as several rivers are maintaining a rising trend. Breach in river embankments has submerged new areas of upper Assam. Official sources said that over 2 lakh 60 thousand people have been affected in eight districts. Over 5 thousand displaced people have taken shelter at relief camps and district administrations have distributed relief materials. State Disaster Response Force has been deployed at Karimganj and Biswanath district for rescue and relief work. Damage caused to roads, culverts and bridges has affected communication in many areas. Meanwhile, monsoon has arrived in North India with rainfall in Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu and Mandi and parts of Sirmaur, Shimla, Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh.
