New Delhi : Under the 12th five year plan period the Central Government has set a target to bring 70 million people under the Rashtriya Swastya Beema Yojana, RSBY. The Director General of Union Labour Welfare ministry, Mr. Anil Swarup informed this during the State Level Review Workshop on RSBY in Bangalore yesterday. RSBY is a health insurance scheme of Central government, with around 10,000 hospitals across the country offering health services to the downtrodden. Our correspondent reports that the RSBY is considered 18th best programme in the world by International Labour Organisation ILO. Mr.Swarup informed that Punjab, Chatisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamilnadu are some of the states where the scheme is being effectively implemented. He however added that there were some cases of fraud being reported while implementing the scheme and 200 hospitals found flouting the norms are removed from the empanelled list of hospitals offering services to RSBY smart card holders. He also pointed out that capacity building, further reaching out to the beneficiaries and removing fraud are the areas they will focus on in the coming years.
