Guwahati : In Tinsukia district, two persons were killed in a grenade blast at Tingrai Market in Digboi on Friday. The victim has been identified as a Sanjib Sen (25). Three others were also injured in the blast. An eyewitness said, “It was around 1 pm when the customer came to the shop. That’s when the explosion happened. The customer and three others were also injured. The grenade blast took place around 1 pm in the market area at Tingrai under Digboi police station (PS) in the district. The grenade was thrown by two miscreants riding motorcycles in front of a hardware store near Puran Agarwala.

The injured were taken to Digboi Civil Hospital. Ulfa (Independent) has feared that the attack will be carried out. Army and police officials rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off by the army and police. Meanwhile, police started an investigation to ascertain more information. “Our senior officers including DIG rushed to the spot”, tinsukia SP said, “We are investigating the matter.Three days ago, a 12-year-old boy was killed in a grenade blast in Tinsukia, Assam. The boy exploded as soon as he picked up the grenade, seriously injuring the boy, the officer said. He said Hajong was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
