Haflong  : To review the works of NH particularly in Dima Hasao local MLA Smt Nandita Gorlosa held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, Assistant commissioner Ibon Teron, representatives from Construction Company at Haflong Circuit House on Thursday.

The heavy landslide due to heavy rain, at least two Covid patients carrying ambulance and one 108 along with other vehicles were stranded for hours in between Longma and Kelelo on on Wednesday.

This portion of NH 54 E popularly known as S –turn has become a headache for long. Neither NHAI nor executing company found to be serious about this portion of NH54 people alleged. People traveling from Maibang often face the problem due to this landslide prone area during the whole year. Though the communication was restored but nothing could be guaranteed during this monsoon, people opined.

Mention may be made here this Sourastra to Silchar NH 54 and 27 delayed by several years for only 49 km stretch from Nriambunglow to Jatinga, Jatinga to Harangajao and Harangajao to Balachara. NHAI has been informed by the suffered people but was in vain.

DC Barua talking to media said he would contact the Regional Officer NHAI soon to take immediate steps to solve the problem at S-turning also to expedite the ongoing works particularly in Dima Hasao.
