Home Minister P Chidambaram has been requested for making an on-the-spot review of law and order in Puducherry, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V.Narayanasamy has said.

“We have requested Chidambaram to visit for on-the-spot assessment,” he told reporters in Puducherry on Thursday in response to a question if a team from the Home Ministry would visit to review law and order in Puducherry.

He did not however elaborate on the date or month when Chidambaram would visit.

He said the territorial administration should take effective steps to ensure that peace and law and order were maintained lest flow of tourists decline.
