  • IAF Surya Kiran aerobatic display on diamond jubilee of 43 squadron, Jorhat

    Jorhat : The 43 Squadron of Indian Air Force Station of Jorhat on its diamond jubilee celebration performed a spectacular display of Surya Kiran Aerobatic team and adventurous Sky diving team enthrall the gathering with various aerobatic formation, demonstration at the Air Force Station, Jorhat of the 10 Wing, Indian Air Force here today, informed Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pandey, the PRO Defence here today.

    The Surya Kiran team displayed about 40 team display which includes turns, wing over, loops, and barrel roll in various six aircraft formation and during the second half the formation splits into two groups to carry out variety of maneuvers like splits, level, and rolling crosses. Inverted runs, the heart look etc, said Flying Officer Savan Gandhi from IAF Station, Jorhat.

    Gandhi said the team performs 30 shows a years and flies three sorties a day during the training season and two a day whilst on aerobatic display and as the craft moves in the speed between 150 to 650 km per hour with their Wings tip less than 5 metres apart. So far the team had performed for the first time in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The event was presided over by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, (Param Vishist Sewa Medal,  Ati Vishist Sewa Medal, Yudh Sewa Medal, Vayu Sena Medal, Aidi-Ded camp) and among other dignitaries present during the celebration were Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Air Command Air Marshal R Nambiar Param (Vishist Sewa Medal, Ati Vishist Sewa Medal, Vayu Sena Medal and Bar) Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station, Jorhat SK Verma 9Vishist Sewa Medal) and Major General Harinder Singh-General Officer Commanding-41 Sub Area of Jorhat Military Station and other officials from IAF Station, Jorhat, students and host of other dignitaries.

    The Chief of the Air Staff in his address acknowledged the 43 Squadron has successfully accomplishing the operational task assigned with highest efficiency. He extorted all the personnel’s to maintain high professional standard in future endeavors also. Air Marshal Nambiar appreciated the efforts of Group Captain TG Singh, Commanding Officer of the Squadron and his team for organizing the celebration successfully.

    Earlier over a period various events were also conducted as part of the celebration which included mini-marathan, barakhana for all the personnel and families of the Squadron and the seminar of “Conduct of Air Transport Operation in North East” was held, informed the PROs of the Defense Wing.
