Guwahati :   Government of India cannot just kick out the illegal Bangladeshis already residing in India (Assam and West Bengal). Heavy lobbying and huge upheavals (communal riots) will start if any such step is taken.

The reason is, political parties such as Indian Nation Congress, AIUDF, Trinamool are in power simply because of these Bangladeshi votes. These political parties will create huge agitations even alleging human rights abuse if any drastic steps are taken by the Central Government. In what may have a far-reaching political impact, the Centre is considering a proposal to provide long-term “biometric work permits” to all those declared as foreigners by the Foreigners’ Tribunal in Assam.

Security sources said the proposal was under active consideration of the Union home ministry, adding that those who were stripped of Indian citizenship would no longer have any political rights nor the right to buy immovable property. Noting that the process of deporting a person declared as Bangladeshi by the Foreigners Tribunal was very slow and time-consuming, the sources said pushing them back through the international border was not feasible as Bangladesh was also a sovereign nation.

The sources said the MHA was discussing all the modalities and other pros and cons of the proposal, and it may be put up for public scrutiny soon. Union home minister Rajnath Singh had already taken up the influx issue with his Bangladesh counterpart during his recent Dhaka visit, and the sources said the two sides had agreed to tighten vigilance on the border.

The sources said the Centre was extremely worried at the slow and lethargic process of deporting foreigners. It is significant that over 20,000 people were declared foreigners by the Foreigners’ Tribunals in Assam and have been kept in various detention centres.

Security sources said that modalities and other pros and cons of the proposal is being discussed in the home ministry which may soon put the proposal for the public scrutiny and opinion. The security sources also said that India and Bangladesh have agreed to tighten vigilance along the borde.

According to the Census in 1871 ,the percentage of Muslims in Assam was 4% which has now rosen to 35%. The population of Assam in 1871 was 41 lakhs out of which 1.76 lakhs were Muslims. Today the population of Assam is about 3 crores. This enormous change in demographics has been mainly fuelled by migration from Bangladesh(East Pakistan).

The solution was there but Govt of India never sincerely thought of solving the problem for the betterment of Eastern India. Bangladesh was liberated by Indian Army, why did Indian Government took this adventurous step? Is it for the good of Assam or for the good of Bengali Hindus? No it was for the safety of India. However big India is, the country Pakistan was a threat to India as it belong to the group of NATO right from its birth. It was to reduce the strength of Pakistan. Had it not it could find out a bigger corridor for Assam with main land India and it could lead Assam to Bangopasagar through Mizoram of Assam to set the entry of Assam to SEA for export and import prospersity. Besides it could made agreement with Bangladesh for controlling population and taking effective step to stop migration. If America could take steps against North Korea to stop rocket experiment, why did India could not take steps against Bangladesh even after liberation?
