India today hit out at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC for its statement on Delhi violence, saying the comments are factually inaccurate and misleading. External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Raveesh Kumar urged bodies like the OIC, not to make irresponsible statements at this sensitive time. Briefing media in New Delhi, the Spokesman said, there is an effort on the ground to restore normalcy and create confidence. The OIC had condemned the violence in Delhi.

Mr Kumar added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself publicly appealed for peace and brotherhood. Referring to some statements which have come out by agencies and individuals on the matter, the Spokesman said that it is not the right time to make such comments and they can create more problems.

On Novel Corona virus situation, Mr Kumar said, it is being monitored at a very high level on a regular basis. He said, 195 Indians and 41 foreign nationals from China and Japan were evacuated and brought to India in two special flights this morning. He informed that till date, a total of 842 Indians and 48 foreign nationals have been evacuated from China and Japan.

Asked whether Rohingya issue was discussed by Myanmar President U Win Myint and Prime Minister Modi during their talks earlier today, Mr Kumar said, there was a lot of discussion on how India could support the socio-economic development of Rakhine state of Myanmar. He pointed out that there are at least four to five MoUs which are related to socio-economic development of Rakhine state.
