  • India, Pak to sign MoU on Kartarpur corridor on Oct 23; asks Pak to reconsider waiving fee on pilgrims

    Published on October 22, 2019

India and Pakistan will sign a Memorandum of Understanding tomorrow for the opening of the Kartarpur corridor. However, New Delhi has asked Islamabad to reconsider its demand of charging 20 dollars service fee from each pilgrim. It termed Pakistan’s continuous insistence on levying the service fee as a matter of disappointment. India has consistently urged Pakistan that in deference to the wishes of the pilgrims, it should not levy such a fee.

The corridor is being built by both nations to connect Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Kartarpur to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism.
