New Delhi : Indraprastha Global School Noida had set a programme to spread awareness about Obesity on Anti DSCN4561Obesity Day (internationally observed on November 26) on 30th November at its School Premises. Obesity is a rising concern of the time an early awareness is a good step to put a stop to it.  IPGS promotes Internationalism in Education by engaging students in activities under ISA in collaboration with the British Council.  Under the action plan ISA, the aim of IPGS is to sensitize students towards healthy diet.

The programme embraced a great participation of students from all grades, starting from a simple ‘Meditation & Yoga Session’ to thrilling ‘Cooking without Fire Competition’ by the little ones to an ‘Essay Writing’ on Obesity- A Major Health Risk.  The yoga and meditation session by students delivered an effective message that how peace of mind is the best prevention for all diseases and a sure way to a healthy life. The session was followed by Salad Dressing and Sandwich Making Competition by tiny chefs who delighted the teachers with their innovative and yummy dishes. Tiny Toddlers had amplified the significance of Healthy Diet as “Nutritional Food- a Saviour to good Health”.  Mini chefs mesmerized everyone with their decorations and innovative styles giving a plain and healthy salad/sandwich a mouth-watering look that say ‘Tiramisu’ (pick me up). The dishes were DSCN4541evaluated on the basis of presentation, idea and health value and the best ones bagged certificate for themselves.

Students of class 4-7 did essay writing on Obesity, presenting their views on Obesity as a problem and a risk to health. With a comparative study of Obesity rates between India & USA, students identified high health risks associated with Obesity.  The Discussion over Preventive Measures and Reasons for increasing Obesity was another part of the activity. Ritu Gupta, Principal IPGS Noida, said “With the modern lifestyle and the rising Obesity Rates value of nutritional food has diminished, it is important for students to identify the significance of Healthy Diet in their lives. With Fun activities we aim to embed in students the importance of a healthy life through a healthy diet”.
