New Delhi : Minister for Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu has said that infrastructure development and improved logistics will further give boost to economy and create more jobs. Delivering keynote address at the inaugural session of a workshop on National Integrated Logistics Plan in New Delhi today, Mr Prabhu said, integration of technology is essential for better infrastructure and logistics planning. He said, technology is fast influencing the logistics landscape, enabling aggregation of transport and storage assets. The Minister said, greater efficiency and asset utilization is becoming the norm of the future. He also stressed on the need for more holistic planning and coordination between concerned Ministries for improved logistics and infrastructure development. The Minister said, private sector can be indulged for better logistics development in the country. He added that global players can be involved to elevate India’s logistics and infrastructure. Mr Prabhu said, logistics sector is on a big growth tide and is the backbone of the economy. He said, agriculture is India’s pulse and the way logistics can minimize wastage and improve efficiency in the supply chain is central to increasing the country’s productivity. He said, India is now looking forward to supply chain management solutions and innovations towards progress.
