New Delhi : The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has called upon all political parties to work together to instill sense of security among people living outside their states. Talking to media persons at an iftar party hosted by him in New Delhi last evening, Dr Singh said, peace must be maintained at any cost. He said, he has spoken to Karnataka Chief Minister Jagdish Shettar and the state government is doing its best to quash rumours.

Congress MPs from North East met party Chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi yesterday and urged her to ensure safety and security of the people from the region.

The BJP also asked the Centre to ensure safety and security of the people from northeast. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said rumours are being spread to create panic among the people from the region. The CPI (M) has demanded immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of the people of north eastern region residing in different parts of the country.
