Kokrajhar: The International Day of People with Disabilities (Differently Abled People) was observed in Kokrajhar district today with various programmes.

The All BTAD Disabled Adhikar Suruksa Mancha and All BTAD Disabled Welfare Development NGO in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office, Kokrajhar observed the International Day of People with Disabilities with various programme at Molandubi in Kokrajhar.

Talking to Reporters, All BTAD Disabled Adhikar Suruksa Mancha president Nandalal Choudhury said the disabled persons are deprived from their various facilities and rights. The Mancha leader demanded full implementation of Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995, equal opportunity to the disabled persons, protection of rights and full participation in all departments as per the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. They also demanded filling up of backlogs for the disabled in various departments within the BTAD.

The District Legal Service Authority, Kokrajhar observed the day by distributing Mobility aid like wheel chair, tricycle, hearig aid and other supporting aid for especially abled person at the Court Premises. District & Session judge and chairperson of District Legal Service Authority, Kokrajhar Mithali Takuria, president of Kokrajhar Bar Association Anil Kumar brahma, Secretary of District Legal Service Authority, Kokrajhar Bidyut Medhi, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sibani Handique and others were present on the occasion.
