  • ITBP Women Conduct All-Women’s Patrol at Sensitive Pass along Indo-China Border

    Guwahati : In a first, assistant commandant Bhanita Timungpi leads special all-women’s patrol at a strategically-important pass along international border in Northeast India.The Indo-Tibetan border police (ITBP) recently conducted an all-women’s patrol for the first time to one of the most sensitive and strategically important passes along Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. The special patrol was led by assistant commandant Bhanita Timungpi, along with a woman sub-inspector and women constables.ITBP’s general duty ‘mahila’ (woman) personnel have been participating in almost all operational duties alongside their male counterparts along the 3,488 km India-China border. However, this is for the first time that any ‘mahila’ officer has led a special ‘mahila’ patrol with a focus to keep vigil along the border and also to achieve maximum efficiency while operating at high-altitude areas, adverse weather and climatic conditions, hostile terrain and thickly forested area of Northeast India. “With this patrol, ITBP’s women personnel have once again proved that they are second to none. They have achieved a milestone, thereby paving a way to take on more challenging tasks ahead,” said an ITBP officer.t may be mentioned that this is for the first time that any ‘mahila’ officer has led a special ‘mahila’ patrol with a focus to keep vigil along the border and also to achieve maximum efficiency while operating at high-altitude areas like the volatile Indo-Arunachal border areas. With this patrol, ITBP’s women personnel have once again proved that they are second to none! Hats off to these ladies!
