  • J&K: Srinagar records coldest night of season, mercury settles below freezing point

    In Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar witnessed the coldest night of the season last night with the mercury settling below the freezing point for the first time.

    The  minimum temperature settled at  minus 2.2 degrees Celsius.  A Met  Department official said the night temperature in Srinagar was nearly five degrees below normal for this time of the season.

    Other places across Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region also recorded temperatures below the freezing point. Leh in Ladakh region recorded a low of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius.

    Kargil was the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir registering the minimum of minus 9.0 degrees Celsius.  The MeT office has forecast isolated rainfall or snow, especially in the higher reaches of the state from Friday.
