Jorhat: The district of Jorhat has touched  90 percent in rural electrification under  Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – ‘Saubhagya’ which is to  provide energy access to all by last mile connectivity and electricity connections to all remaining un-electrified households in rural as well as urban areas to achieve universal household electrification in the country, to be noted a 16 member family  from Borbheta Chapori was living at an slum type of area with economic back doing housekeeping jobs was highly pleased after enrolment into Subhagya—it was like new ray of hope after the  connection they were provided as they remained in dark for years & years, their children could not study either they had light, fan or TV, and after the connection they could study for three hours every night and the elders could sleep well and women could cook their  dinner after returning from theirs day long hard work as they were all from very poor BPL class like living in slams, said Mukut Das, Additional Deputy Manager(APDCL, Jorhat ) here today.

The APDCL ADG, further said that in recent day most needed families they found were in Borbheta Chapori 16 , Chutiakari 22 ,Mariani Grant 52, Bosabari Tea estate 427,Bokola Tea Estate 423, Makorikhuti 666,Randhijan 265,Kolbari321, Kathkotia 232 etc were recent completion and they were in very much in need  and deserved for  which we had to place extra numbers of electric poles to reach  the houses connected, and we are happy to achieve to the reach the completion of 90 percent the  December 20.

Official from the APDCL said, that  electricity connection to households include release of electricity connections by drawing a service cable from the nearest pole to the household premise, installation of energy meter, wiring for a single light point with LED bulb and a mobile charging point. In case the electricity pole is not available nearby from household for drawing service cable, the erection of additional pole along with conductor and associated accessories shall also be covered under the scheme.

It may be mentioned that , Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – Saubhagya, whis suppose  to complete the works of household electrification by  December 2018, which the district of Jorhat is in the verge of compleation as per conditions of availability of materials which needed , said Mukut Das the ADG, APDCL, Jorhat.
