  • Kerala: Rains start to recede with movement of low pressure formed in Arabian sea to Oman and Yemen coasts

    In Kerala, the rains today started receding  with the moving of low pressure formed in Arabian sea to Oman and Yemen coasts. Though  its still raining heavily in some parts of the state, the Met department has cancelled the issued for five districts. However,  will continue in Idukki and Wayanad districts considering heavy rainfall in isolated areas.

    With the rains receding, the shutter of Idukki dam have been  closed but the electricity department has decided to keep the shutters of some dams open ahead of the north-east monsoon in the Malayalam month of Thulam.

    The State Disaster Management Authority has warned people to avoid night travel in the hilly regions of Idukki and Wayanad district . At the same time, it is reported that the district disaster management authorities have been asked to withdraw the restrictions imposed on tourists in hilly regions.
