  • Dr. Randy Aaranson book focuses on how to prevent infection and amputation for diabetics

    Randy Aaranson, D.P.M. – a podiatrist at Mercy Clinic in Washington, Mo. and Orthopedic Associates in Des Peres, Mo. – recently published Diabetic Foot Care: Walking in Wellness.

    Diabetic Foot Care: Walking in Wellness is a complete guide for diabetics that focuses on how to take care of their feet through early prevention and daily foot care in order to prevent infection and amputation.  Dr. Aaranson highlights the effects of foot neuropathy, a condition that affects the nerves and is a common ailment for diabetics.

    Dr. Aaranson provides comprehensive care and surgery of the foot and ankle, as well as specializes in diabetic foot and wound care.  He also treats bunions, heel pain, ingrown toenails, nail fungus, corns and callous, warts, and broken and sprained ankles.

    Dr. Aaranson has been a practicing podiatrist for more than 30 years.  He has practices at Mercy Clinic located at 901 Patients First Dr. in Washington, Mo. and at Orthopedic Associates located at 1050 Old Des Peres Rd. in Des Peres, Mo.

    Dr. Aaranson is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.  He also is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.  Dr. Aaranson is an attending physician in the St. Louis region teaching surgical residents.

     “Throughout my 30-year career, I have seen how diabetes can affect the vascular and neurological components of the foot,” said Dr. Aaranson.  “My book discusses all aspects of diabetic foot care ranging from skin care and circulation to custom inserts and shoes.  My hope in writing this book is to prevent the most extreme complication of diabetes: amputation.”
