Sanjay Chaudhary, a close associate of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda was arrested in the United Arab Emirates, UAE, on wednesday. He is alleged to have been behind dubious investments of Koda and an Interpol Red Corner Notice was pending against him.

Chaudhary is considered to have helped Koda in routing his alleged illegal investments to various foreign countries including Liberia and the UAE. The Enforcement Directorate also has an arrest warrant pending against him.

CBI sources said in New Delhi today that Koda was arrested by the CBI on the charges of money laundering, disproportionate assets and tax evasion and is presently lodged in Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi. The Red Corner Notice is the closest instrument to an international arrest warrant.
