Kokrajhar : In a sensational case, the dead body of a 17 years old girl was recovered from Gendrabil area under Kokrajhar police station this evening.

Police suspect it to be a case of rape and murder.

The decease identified  as Nandani Nath of Ghoparapara village went missing since last evening after she went to ongoing mela(fair) at Gendrabil.

The murderer burned the body after committing  the crime. The burned body of the minor girl was recovered from the paddy field this evening. The place is just about 5 km from Kokrajhar police station.

The incident once again questions the district administration giving permission to hold melas in various parts of the district even as various social organisations, students body urged the administration not to permit organising melas. It is to be mentioned that melas and fairs are going on in around 15 places adjoining Kokrajhar town where many anti social activities like gambling takes place openly.
