Guwahati: A major road accident took place in Manipur’s Noni district on Wednesday. At least 17 students were killed in a road accident after two buses carrying students lost control on December 21. After the accident, there was a scream on the spot.

There was chaos on the spot. The accident took place on Bisnupur-Khoupum road near Longsai Tubung village under Jaujangtek police station area of Noni district of Manipur. Apart from this, many students are seriously injured and they are feared dead in the accident. According to the report, the two buses carrying the students belonged to Thambalnu Higher Secondary School in Yaripok and were heading towards Khoupum for a study tour. According to the information received, this accident took place on Bishnupur-Khoupum road near Longsai Tubung village.

The injured students are being treated at Medicity Hospital in Imphal. After the accident, there was a stir on the spot. Local people reached the spot and helped. The injured were rushed to hospital. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital. As soon as the news was received, the police also reached the spot. After this, the matter has been investigated. So far, 22 students have been admitted to the hospital. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed grief over the incident. He has expressed grief over the accident by tweeting a video. “Deeply saddened to learn about the accident of a bus carrying school children on Old Cachar Road today. SDRF, medical team and MLA have reached the spot for relief work. Praying for everyone’s safety on the bus.
