Guwahati : Four railway staff namely Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Driver/ Goods/Alipurduar Jn, Shri Satendra Kumar Yadav, Asst. Driver / Alipurduar Jn, Shri Chandan Kumar, Station Suptd./Dalkhola and Shri Upen Kumar Roy, Pointsman / Dalkhola were awarded by Shri Sanjive Roy, General Manager, N.F. Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty. On 18.04.2018, at about 7.30 pm, Shri Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Driver/Goods/Alipurduar Jn & Shri Satendra Kumar Yadav, Asst. Driver / Alipurduar Jn while working on 55725 up (from New Jalpaiguri to Alipurduar) and during passing Sevok– Bagrakot section noticed some obstruction on the railway track. They immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake. It was found that a piece of rail lying perpendicular to the railway track. A probable mishap was thus averted due to alertness. In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accident both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 3, 000/- (Rupees Three thousand only) each alongwith a certificate by General Manager, N.F. Railway. On 18.04.2018, at about 1.38 pm, Shri Chandan Kumar, Station Suptd./Dalkhola and Shri Upen Kumar Roy, Pointsman / Dalkhola while watching through passing of Up goods train at Dalkhola station, noticed heavy smoke coming out from a wagon. They immediately arranged to stop the train. The train was controlled at Dalkhola station after passing the starter signal. They used fire extinguisher on wagon No-ERBCNL – 310020037364 and also called fire brigade. Thus a probable mishap was averted. In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accident both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 3, 000/- (Rupees Three thousand only) each alongwith a certificate by General Manager, N.F. Railway.
