  • NCHAC CEM expresses concern over negligence of Forest officials

    Haflong  : The Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Sri Debolal Gorlosa expressed serious concern over total negligence of forest officials in the matter of killing of the rarest variety of Deer.

    In a face book post Gorlosa maintained that it was a case of total negligence of Forest Department and stern departmental action would be taken against Forest Range Officer of the area Sri Tuhin Langthasa for his gross negligence of duty and insincerity.

    CEM mentioned that on being informed about the killing of rare White deer at Zion village, he directed two of his Member of Autonomous Council Sri Nojit Kemprai and Sri Ratan Jarambusa to visit the village   and to investigate. They raided the house and recovered the dried skin of white deer and it’s leg. On investigation it was found that it was hunted by Sri Banlal Hrangkhol of Piza Village and has been arrested along with his associate hunter.

    This species of White deer is very rare and endangered one which falls under the protection of Wildlife Protection Act and hunting of this species or any illegal hunting of wildlife animals will be prosecuted under the law.
