  • NCW demands CBI inquiry into Bhatta Parsaul firing incident in UP

    Published on May 21, 2011

The National Commission for Women, NCW has demanded an immediate CBI enquiry into the Bhatta Parsaul firing incident in Greater Noida on 7th of May. Addressing the media in New Delhi, the Acting Chairperson of NCW, Yasmin Abrar alleged that grave atrocities like rape and murders were committed in the two villages by the Uttar Pradesh police. Later speaking to AIR Ms Yasmin Abrar said, only an impartial enquiry by the CBI will bring out the truth as the state police is party to the crime.

She also asked the UP Government to lodge an FIR into the incident and book the culprits. Ms Abrar said, many of the villagers are still missing and mounds of ashes must be examined as people from the areas claim that human remains are there in the mounds. A team of the National Commission for Women visited the villages for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

Reacting over demand for CBI probe by the National Women Commission, the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party alleged that the Commission is working as a frontal organisation of the Congress party.

In a statement issued this evening at Lucknow party spokesperson has said that all allegations made by the acting chairman of the commission were unfortunate and against the honour and prestige of women of the concerned villages.

The UP Government has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Bhatta Parsaul firing incident.
