  • Nepal ParliamentThe Nepal parliament meeting to elect new prime minister has begun. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for the premiership.

    Deuba requires 297 votes out of 593. Our Kathmandu correspondent reports that Deuba is set to be elected new prime minister as ruling coalition is having majority in the house.

    Election for new prime minister is being held due to resignation by the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He had resigned from the post of prime minister on May 24 as per the power sharing understanding with the coalition partner Nepali Congress.
