  • NESO’s 11 hours N E Bandh is total and peaceful in Dima Hasao

    Haflong: The 11 hours N E India Bandh called by N E Students Organisation, supported by many organisations including ADSU, DWS, DMA, NCHISF etc. in protest against the Citizen Amendment Bill (CAB) was total and peaceful in Dima Hasao.

     

    Normal life at Haflong affected due to bandh, the vehicles were off the road, all the business establishments, market, and bank remained closed.

     

    All the government and semi-government offices remained closed except the offices of Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. The train services were as usual, the district administration arranged vehicles to ferry the train passengers from New Haflong Station.

     

    Reports of Bandh from places like Langting, Mahur, Maibang, Harangajao, Umrangso are pouring in and no untoward incident reported so far.

     

    David Keivom, President, NCHISF said they have extended their support to all the organisations of Dima Hasao in today’s bandh while expressing serious concern over the government move of establishing detention camp in the district.

     

    Prithiviraj Hojai, General Secretary, All Dimasa Students’ Union while offering heartfelt thanks to the people of Dima Hasao for supporting their Bandh call said government should review the CAB immediately so that no organisation would be compelled to go for such agitation in future.
