  • Nirmala Sitharaman holds pre-budget consultation meeting with financial sector

    Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held her third Pre-Budget consultation meeting with the stakeholders from financial sector and capital markets in New Delhi today.

    The main areas of discussion included issues relating to the capital markets, financial sector, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) among others.

    An official release said the meeting was attended by Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur, Finance Secretary, Expenditure Secretary, Revenue Secretary and other senior officials of Finance Ministry.

    With a view to give a boost to Indian markets, the representatives of Financial Sector and Capital Markets submitted several suggestions concerning the infusion of capital in the niche and regional banks, the enhanced role of Financial Sector Development Council, on the NBFC Sector, and need to distinguish between solvency, governance and liquidity issues. Many other issues were also discussed.
