Omar, who visited the affected areas of Phyang and Choglamsar on Friday, inspected the rehabilitation works at various places, including Solar Colony where 158 flood affected families have been shifted to as many newly-built two-room tenements.

The Chief Minister also directed the district administration to complete the construction of the Colony before the onset of winter by providing construction material and financial assistance to the families.
Omar also visited Phyang and announced Rs 1.5 crore assistance for reclamation programme of 47.5 hectares of agriculture land, which was washed away in the floods.

Asking the district administration and agricultural officers to put in vigorous efforts to complete the reclamation work before the next sowing season, Omar said a comprehensive project under Command Area Development for reclamation of the washed away land has been prepared and sent to the Centre for funding.

Omar also inaugurated Rs 8 crore 4.5-MW diesel power station at Leh which will augment the current electric supply in the area, besides electrifying the newly developed Solar Colony for the affected families at Choglamsar.

A district officers meet was also chaired by Omar where he reviewed the rehabilitation programme and developmental schemes under execution in various sectors.

Omar Abdullah also met various deputations and heard their grievances and demands pertaining to the speedy development in the rural areas of Leh district.
