  • Opposition’s threat to boycott budget session irresponsible: Moily

    Published on January 2, 2011

The Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily has termed as ‘irresponsible’, the threat of Opposition to boycott the forthcoming budget session, which is insisting on a Joint Parliamentary Committee Probe into 2G Spectrum scam. He was speaking to reporters in Bangalore today.

He substantiated that a CBI enquiry has already been conducted and Parliamentary Affairs Committee probe is on 2G spectrum allocation. He remarked that the Opposition has to substantiate further if they feel the necessity of JPC probe and debate it in Parliament instead of stalling the Session. He felt that their attitude only reveals their breach of duty.

On Aarushi murder case, the Union Law minister informed that the Central Bureau of Investigation has been asked to re-look at the closure report submitted by it. He stressed that CBI is an independent and autonomous organization and the Government cannot give directions to it. He explained that in the wake of public sentiment, the CBI officials are asked to have a re-look at the closure report they have submitted on the matter.
