Mumbai :With an objective to sensitise the future generation about importance of solar technology, IIT Mumbai has organised on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary a unique program to train more than 1 lakh school students across the country on how to assemble solar lamps.

Under project Solar Urja through Localisation for Sustainability -SoULS, workshops will be held across the country involving students from 659 schools. Project Head SoULS Chetan Singh said the program is an initiative of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

He said program has already trained several people from rural areas to assemble solar study lamps.
